Compassionate, culturally responsive psychotherapy for adolescents & adults navigating anxiety, trauma, life transitions, relationships, and the weight of caring for everyone else.
A holistic approach to emotional well-being, serving clients in New York and New Jersey.
Maybe you're the person everyone depends on. You keep showing up, handling responsibilities, and pushing forward—while privately feeling anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or unsure of what you need.
At Gentle Within, therapy offers a space to slow down and understand what is happening beneath the surface. Together, we can work through anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship changes, grief, burnout, difficult life transitions, and patterns that may no longer serve you.
You do not need to arrive with the perfect words or have everything figured out. We can begin wherever you are.
Licensed Holistic Psychotherapist
Hi, I'm Amy — a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and founder of Gentle Within LLC, where I provide gentle, trauma-informed, client-centered therapy for individuals navigating life transitions, trauma, depression, anxiety, and burnout. As a Christian, my faith shapes how I show up for clients: I believe healing is holistic, touching mind, body, and spirit, and that real change begins when we create space for both self-awareness and self-compassion. Over the years, I've supported clients from diverse backgrounds, with a special focus on the unique challenges faced by women and men of color, caregivers, and professionals balancing multiple responsibilities. I understand firsthand how easily the line between caring for others and caring for yourself can blur — and my mission is to help you reclaim your inner balance.
I earned my undergraduate degree from New York University and my graduate degree from Yeshiva University. My clinical foundation is trauma-informed, and I hold certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for adults experiencing trauma. My professional experience includes clinical leadership roles directing mental health and substance use clinics, extensive work with addictive behaviors, and a Master Counselor in Addiction Studies (MCASAC) credential. I have also supervised MSW interns, supporting the next generation of social workers.
In addition to my clinical training, I draw on Ayurvedic principles, herbalism, and natural wellness practices alongside my Christian faith to complement evidence-based therapy — honoring the connection between mind, body, and spirit in the healing process. At Gentle Within, I aim to create a space where you can slow down, explore your story, and build sustainable tools for resilience. Whether you're seeking support through a life change, processing past experiences, navigating divorce, or ready to prioritize your mental health, I'm here to walk alongside you as you create a life that feels grounded, intentional, and whole.
Gentle Within is first and foremost a psychotherapy practice. I also offer select holistic wellness and professional consulting services that reflect my broader commitment to emotional well-being, education, and sustainable care.

Learn MoreI've been working with Amy for 3 years and have found the experience to be incredibly helpful. Amy creates a safe and welcoming environment that allows my family and daughter to open up and discuss our thoughts and feelings without judgment. Amy listens attentively, offers insightful feedback, and provides practical strategies that I can implement in my daily life. What I appreciate most about Amy is her ability to make my daughter feel heard and understood. Whether she is dealing with anxiety, stress, or just needs someone to talk to, she always provides a compassionate and empathetic response. Additionally, Amy is highly professional, always flexible when scheduling sessions, which makes it easy to fit therapy into my routine. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking support or looking to improve their mental health. The family center is highly recommended

Can I just say thank you, no matter all the crazy thoughts I get dancing around my head you always find a way to help me make sense of them and i really appreciate it! No matter whether I'm misreading and misunderstanding absolutely everything you never make me feel crazy and that's a job on its own. Thank you for allowing me to decompress my million thoughts and still keeping me sane. You get a 10/10 Ms. Pichardo, all jokes aside, every patient deserves a therapist like you.
